Abia Governor Says Government House Not Befitting

The governor of Abia state, Dr Alex Otti has announced that he will demolish the Government House buildings in Umuahia before the end of this year and replace them with a more suitable structure befitting the seat of government. The revelation was made by Governor Otti during his visit to the Arochukwu Local Government Area, where he inaugurated projects completed by the Mayor.
The governor explained that he has not been working from the Government House due to the poor condition of the existing facilities.

“Today, l am not operating from the government house in Umuahia because there is no government house. Everywhere is dilapidated and decayed. The option would have been to use the money I used to pay pensioners to begin to retrofit the government house. But, I felt that we could operate from anywhere while doing the most important things first.”
"And I am proud to report that before the end of this year, we are going to break down those dilapidated buildings and we'll put up structures that are befitting for our people who are enlightened like Abia people." Gov. Otti stated.
Governor Otti said that the projects executed by the council Mayor are in line with his vision for Abia state, explaining that everything his administration is doing, whether in health, road infrastructure or others, is always the best.
“If you look at the projects we are doing, the road projects, the school projects, the healthcare delivery projects and every other project. It's either they are done to the best and highest standards or we won't do them at all. We didn't cut corners. I want to say a big thank you to God, particularly for making us to be in a position to serve him at this time.”

The State Chief Executive appreciated the achievement recorded by the Mayor and said that the Mayor is supporting his vision.
"I want to also thank him for working so harmoniously with other Mayors and for supporting us."
In his speech, the Mayor of Arochukwu, Mazi Joe Ezearo said that reconstructions done in the council headquarters are a testament to the unwavering support of Governor Alex Otti to the council.
He recalled that upon assumption of office, he found out the council headquarters was in bad shape, hence, his efforts to carry out the projects.
The event attracted many dignitaries including the Member representing Arochukwu State Constituency, Hon. Uchenna Okoro, Commissioners, and other aides of the Governor. Eze Aro, and Dr. Eberechukwu Kanu Oji among others were present.
