Heartland FC Announces Emmanuel Amunike As Head Coach
Heartland FC has named Emmanuel Amunike as their new head coach. The ex-Nigerian international, who previously managed Misr Lei Makkasa in February 2021, is tasked with guiding the team back to glory following their relegation to the Nigeria National League (NNL) last season.
Amunike, aged 53, brings a wealth of experience to Heartland FC. The club's recent relegation presents a difficult journey back to the top-tier of Nigerian football, and Amunike's leadership is considered a vital step in this process.
Reports suggest that Heartland FC has reached an agreement with Beyond Limits Academy to purchase a league slot.
Heartland FC, a five-time NPFL champion, was relegated to the Nigeria National League (NNL) last season. Meanwhile, Beyond Limits Academy won the NNL title last season, earning a promotion to the top flight. The academy shares ownership with Remo Stars, another NPFL team.
Managing two NPFL teams may prove challenging for owner Kunle Soname, who has reportedly agreed to sell Beyond Limits Academy’s slot. According to multiple sources, Heartland is awaiting NPFL approval before officially announcing they will replace Beyond Limits Academy in the NPFL for the 2024/2025 season.
