Abia State Government Delays Enforcing Tricycle And Motorcycle Restrictions

In a recent statement, Abia State Commissioner for Information and Culture, Okey Kanu, announced that the state government postponed its plans to impose restrictions on tricycles and motorcycles between the hours of 7 pm and 6 am, which was set to start on August 1, 2024. The postponement aims to allow for the implementation of an alternative solution.

Kanu explained that the government's decision to delay the enforcement demonstrates its commitment to placing people at the heart of its policies.
He noted that the ongoing registration of commercial vehicles, tricycles, and motorcycles will continue as scheduled.
A new date for the commencement of the restriction policy will be announced in due course.

Many tricycle riders and motorcyclists have applauded this decision, considering it a security measure as the initial enforcement date coincided with the August 1 national protest.
Recall the government initially chose July 1, but later rescheduled it to August 1 before the decision to postpone the enforcement.
